My favorite song from last December...

This is a song by Matchbox 20, "How Far We've Come".

The reason why I like this song is because I feel that it reflects the moment that we are going through as a species and as a planet. Time is accelerating and many things are happening, new technologies, new wars, new diseases.

When I first heard this song was last December, and my mother got very sick. She had to have a surgery and I was very worried for her health, so in a way, I was feeling that my world was burning to the ground and coming to an end... thank God all went well, and she recovered splendidly.

I like the fact that this song is snappy, yet the topic is a serious one. That kind of music that mixes contrary lyrics to the theme is not too common, so I appreciate it very much.

I believe, as the song says, that the world is coming to an end, but we are also going through a new beginning. The question remains... where do we want to head to? We have the choice.
